High School & Jr. High

High School and Jr. High teens meet upstairs in the High School Room, (top of the ramps above the Main Enterance). Meeting times are Sundays at 10:00 A.M., and Wednesday evenings at 7:00 P.M. On Wednesday nights we are talking about Dating and what does God say about that. On Sundays we are talking about King David.

High SchoolFundraisers
How do we get funds for all the cool stuff we do? By doing more cool stuff like bake sales, car washes, yard work, and more! If you have awesome ideas for a fundraiser at CCA let us know.

Sleepovers/Lock-Ins
Ever want to get locked in a church overnight? Here's your chance! Once in a while, we just HAVE to get away from the home life. Join the teens of CCA in a night of food, games, movies, and the traditional round of Sardines at CCA. All sleepover and lock-ins are adult supervised.

Summer Camp
Every year kids and teens from CCA join their Alaskan peers from across the state at Camp Challenge in Wasilla, Alaska for weeks of fun, sun, and solid God-time without the interruptions and distractions of normal life.

Winter Reatreat
CCA gets together every winter with teens from other Christian churches around Alaska to enjoy the frigid coldness at Solid Rock Bible Camp in Soldotna, Alaska. Winter Retreat lasts Friday night through Sunday morning, and includes lots of snowballs, food, caffeine, worship, God-time, friendship and just time to chill.

Children's Ministry

Nursery

Babies ages 0-24 months receive our undivided attention in the nursery, adjacent to the Preschool Room, near the Main Enterance. Cuties will be cuddled, cooed, changed, cleaned, fed, napped and utterly adored by our devoted childcare staff.

Preschool & Kindergarten
(Age 3-6)

Preschool & Kindergarten age children play together interactively, developing and learning social skills based on Jesus' message to love one another.

Elementary (Grade 1-6)

Elementary children focus on games and activities that encourage Christ-like behaviors and values, teach them memory verses from the Bible, and promote loving friendships.
Volunteers Needed! Do you have experience in childcare, teaching, or group activities? Or do you want to get some experience? CCA is looking for Teacher's Aides to do 2-month rotations in a classroom to help out our teaching staff. Aids and teachers both rotate 2-months on, 2-months off so we can all participate in regular church services. For more information or to volunteer, contact the Main Office for an interview!

Meet Our Teachers!

Class: Children's Ministry Director, Preschool Teacher

Teaching History: I just started my position July 1st, as the Children’s Minister at CCA; I am taking over one of the rotations spots in the preschool class.  I am also working with the preschool class on Wednesday nights.

About me: I was born and raised here in Anchorage.  My family and I started attending CCA when I was in 1st grade.  I have loved being a part of the family here and I am so excited to be working as the Children’s minister.  I love photography and traveling, I can’t get enough of either.  A couple years after High School I decided to follow my sister to Central Christian College of the Bible.  I was there for four years, graduating with my Bachelors Degree in Christian Education.  Between my junior and senior year at Central I did my internship here at CCA.  After completing that summer, I was offered the position here so I went into my senior year excited to finish and came back ready to work.

Favorite Verse: The LORD is my strength and song, and He has become my salvation; this is my God, and I will praise Him; my father’s God, and I will extol Him. Exodus 15:2

Class: I teach 4th -6th grade Sunday school. I have been teaching this class for 1 year.

Teaching History: In different churches I taught 1st-2nd grade Sunday school, Ladies Bible studies and Adult Sunday school classes.

About me: I have been living in Alaska a little over 2 years and have been attending CCA for that length of time. I’m married to Paul M.; I am the stepmother of 3 and a grandmother of 2 girls. I am a fiber fanatic, love to spin yarn and knitting, devoted Pilates class student, like to hike and geo cache with Paul. I LOVE MY CCA FAMILY!

Favorite Verse: Let them praise His name with dancing; Let them sing praises to Him with timbrel and lyre. Psalms 149:3

Class: I teach the 1st, 2nd and 3rd graders on Sunday mornings. I've done it for two different quarters this year. This quarter, we're calling ourselves the C.I.A. The kids are all members of the Christian Investigation Agency . . . searching for the truth in God's word.

Teaching History: I served 6 months at a time teaching 2 year olds for 2 1/2 hours every Sunday morning at both Boise Christian Church and Denver Church of Christ.

About me: I've been in Alaska since the spring of 2007. My family started coming to CCA around Mother's Day 2009 and immediately felt as if we'd found where we needed to be to worship with people striving to follow God's word - and do so
with love and joy! We felt very welcomed. In October of that year, our daughter made the decision to be baptized and in August of the following year, we declared our membership. I spent about a year helping with the Women's Ministry, but feel like my "happy place" is in service in the children's ministry, so that's where I focus my efforts these days. I have a lot of fun with the kids in my class - all of the kids, really. We have a blended family with 3 of our 5 children in college: one at UAA, one in Kenai, and one in San Francisco. Our son is set to graduate from Marine Corps boot camp in October. And our youngest, Olivia, is an 11 year old who enjoys school, cross country running and skiing, home economics and is deciding between being a Medical Examiner or a cupcake artisan when she grows up - tough choices.

I personally enjoy so many things that I haven't developed any real talent in any one thing! I bead, I bake, I
constantly redecorate my house. My day-job is as a sales rep/up-and-coming interior designer at Elaine S. Baker and
Associates in downtown Anchorage. I just started running. I can't say I love it yet though my running friends promise me this will come . . .

Favorite Verse: "See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands." Isaiah 49:16 It reminds me how personally God is involved in each of our lives. It makes me feel so lucky to (to quote a friend) be the "redeemed daughter of the one true God"!
