making the world better

CCA men and beyond. Since we are in a new age of not being able to meet in person, we are forced to find creative ways to teach and encourage each other. Our Saturday men’s studies can go interstate and intercontinental. I hope you realize that God wants to use each of you to “touch” people spiritually during this time even if we can’t touch them physically. We are using Zoom to visually and verbally connect with people. We have…

men constructing a new world

Hello CCA men and beyond. This morning on my way to the office, I drove through my neighborhood praying for the families and businesses represented. I looked at each home. It took me about 8-10 minutes. One of the many topics I spoke with The Lord about was “May each of these people see themselves in the construction business.” Anchorage and the world are going to require massive re-construction; and not just buildings and businesses – spiritual, emotional, family, work,…

visionary parenting online

Hey church  (though we aren’t meeting tomorrow night… we can still grow our skills) Learn with a group, from your couch. Keep your fellowship going weekly. We are working every day to expand options for continuing your faith-building and thus your encouragement to family and others. This season of “hunkering down” may elevate people’s interest in faith and provide opportunities to learn that we haven’t explored. If you have group conferencing ideas and know how to run them, please call me…

suspending but expanding

Hello CCA, Obeying the spirit of our Mayor’s Emergency Order, dated March 16, we are canceling Sunday and Wednesday services through the end of March at least. Are we canceling faith? Oh, but no means. We are just expanding!! I can site twice in the Bible when God used painful times to advance His Kingdom when comfort began to rule the day. (Joshua 9 and 10 and Acts 8.1. Some of my Bible scholar friends, local and worldwide with this…

my kids are home from school :(

Hello CCA Oh no, my kids are home from school – what will I do? Here are some elementary school ideas that parents can easily do to jump their children ahead when they go back: Pick a book and write a book report. “Teaching textbooks” is a free trial website, grades three and above. Research culture, economy, climate etc. of a favorite country. It could be one we have a mission to. You could look on our CCA website. www.christianchurchofanchorage.com Do…

your church’s plans to help reduce risk

Hello Church  There is maybe a response spectrum from Fear to ‘Forget It’. We are going to include a page, at the conclusion of this email, of adjustments that we are planning to implement. You can help Anchorage! Emotions can spiral when talking about COVID-19. Remaining calm and sticking with known facts may help someone who is not thinking clearly or speaking with emotional tones. This is a good time to use Proverbs 15.1 – “a gentle answer turns away…

peace in all storms

Hello Church  With all the discussion regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) around the world, we at CCA want you to help our church and community remain healthy, safe and avoid unnecessary risks. Teach your family members to wash their hands frequently and for at least 20 seconds using soap and water. Sing the ABC song twice or Happy Birthday twice. I heard a Christian artist who made a hand-washing song on K-LOVE. If soap and water are not available, use an…

YouVersion Prayer List

Hey Church, If you have YouVersion they just came out with a new update adding Prayer Request to the app. I have not tried it out yet but it looks neat! A way for us to pray for each other and some cool ways to keep track of what you praying for. Click on the link below to learn more. I have not played around with it yet, but just wanted to make everyone aware.

doing everything in your power to see your kids safely to Heaven

Hello Church, I am still calculating the impact of conversations in the Mall during Fur Rondy. This one stood out uniquely: one lady, a touch older than I, said her mom took her to church when she was young, but she didn’t take her kids to church. I need to call that – Tragic! She was very pleasant. I had a great conversation with her. But how can you follow-through in doing nothing for the Spiritual shaping of your kids…
