Change of Address

Hello Church, Yesterday, our friend and brother, Ken McKenzie passed from this life to reward and complete joy. I can even now hear his laughter that could be heard throughout the building. “after he had served the purpose of God in his own generation, fell asleep” Acts 13:36. Ken is already missed. Lift up his wife Melissa and daughter and granddaughters here in anchorage.

Community Garden

Hello Church, Chuck Bost has begun a “community” project that you could participate in. It has been active for about a month. Come see it. Here’s a message from Chuck:   “don’t forget to bring a plant for the container garden up on the deck (front deck on the upper duplex). Chuck is watering them and making sure they are growing! The food grown will be donated to local homeless shelter or other charity. I know we’re doing this a…

I want to read the Bible

Hello CCA I want to read the Bible. But you know how busy just gets in the way. I jump out of bed and I’m already behind. What if I had the Bible with me everywhere I go? At the stoplight while I’m driving, while I’m waiting in line at DMV or anywhere. Well that’s what YouVersion is. I can read the Bible anywhere. I can read the Bible and ask questions of it with friends. Last Thanksgiving Rick Elliott…

Independence Day

Even reading this, (for me, thinking of it) means we are living in the fruit of declaring independence. Declaring it did not mean we had it. We had to fight for it still. I will jump back and forth between us today and the men who signed the document. The future was unknown. What would a new world for us look like? Would we be able to “make it”? Would it prove to be better than the system we had…

This Weekend

Hello Church ? We have to fit a lot of warmth and sunshine into 3 months. I sat outside with Kelly and my youngest granddaughter tonight before dinner… warmth from God and family!! Good stuff. Sunday, I am going to introduce 2 of the young men of CCA. They helped with Junior Camp last week. They were extraordinary. If they weren’t the best teens I have worked with, they are in the top percentile. I have asked them to share what…

Wednesday Night Alive

Hello CCA The weather can’t decide what it wants to do. I’m voting sunshine. Remember the 2018 Faith Outreach Plan I laid out for us this year, back in January? It asked you questions, like how do I want to progress in my faith and witness this year? We don’t want to be a 10 year old Christian with only one year worth of Spiritual Development. Wednesday nights are designed to offer 5 things that are basic Christianity: Fellowship, meals…

Reminder About Tonight

Hello church! Reminder about tonight from 6-9 in the Fellowship Hall. Heath Franklin did a good job of explaining the unique factors among people; labeled sheep, wolves and sheepdogs. Wolves and sheepdogs are both aggressive and they both bite. But one devours and one protects. We will gain some training in 3 areas: Security in places of worship. This will likely bleed over into home awareness. Emergency management in the local church facility. This also will likely be informational to…

Former First Lady, Barbara Bush

Good day CCA ? During our recent Family Dedication Day, I asked us to be the generation that turns our children’s generation back to faith. Then our children won’t have to be won to Christ through the efforts of someone else. I just spoke with “Faith Comes by Hearing” and they said this Millennial Generation knows the least about God. Let’s reverse the trend on that, one family at a time, starting with yours. Many at CCA are doing a…

Sunday Potluck & Easter Review

Hello CCA, Over 14 hours of daylight now! 2 weeks ago we hit an equal 12 hours. Looks like we may have spring again this year?. Of course we will! There are things you can count on because in reality, we have a consistent and orderly God. But one day, there will be a great end. Easter reminds us of that. There will come a New Day. It will be quite the Day to remember. Back to Easter for a…

An Opportunity to Grow in the Grace of Christ

Hello CCA! Easter was a great day. You came ready to worship and filled with joy. It was obvious. I will say more about Easter tomorrow. Here’s an opportunity to grow in the grace of Christ: Tomorrow night, I encourage you to schedule these sessions into your week. We have 2 new seminars that begin tomorrow night that will develop your faith and service. They are scheduled between 7-8. You can come for dinner as well, at 6. So you…

Tomorrow Morning is our Day of Celebration!

Hello CCA, Tomorrow morning is our Day of Celebration! We celebrate the best news that the world has ever heard. I and others, have been praying that tomorrow will, in a way you need, bring you closer to the awesome work that God accomplished in Christ by raising Him from death. We have been praying that those who come to worship who are still on the curious side will hear precisely what they need to hear for The Resurrection to…

Make Easter as Big a Holiday as Christmas

Hello CCA, I have been letting people know that CCA is starting a process of making Easter as big a holiday as Christmas. And it will be a process. Maybe we should invent an Easter tree to decorate? If you have thought of some ideas to display the celebration of the Christian’s best day of the year, send back a brief email or text. We posted a Happy Easter plaque on our garage door frame, but it feels anemic. There…
