The Influential Disciple

Hello Church,  It’s cold. But I hope you are taking pictures and appreciate the beauty we are experiencing. The ‘ice fog’ is spectacular as it coats the trees and objects! What a world our God has created. Here’s is a description of our growth strategy for this year: “It’s amazing that something as central as discipleship – the entire Bible is all based on a deep personal relationship with God. Yet 2000 years into the start of the Church it…

“The Last Supplement”

Hello CCA, This is the last day of 2018. The weather has been forcing the year out! The roar of the storm and wind got me up early this morning. The power of quakes and storms has keep us watching (and maybe nervous?) Maybe ‘watchful’ is a good thing. Luke 21.36 says, “Keep Watch…” Jesus will return for His Church. We want to be ready for that and help people in our city become ready. Here’s a reminder of yesterday’s…

The Mystery of this Child

Hello Church, Have you begun to see that Christmas is not a holiday it’s a mystery? A mystery revealed. May this Christmas season make you wonder, imagine and revel in uncovering the mystery of Christmas and what it can mean for you. Would you read the following scriptures about this mystery of God that was planned for you, before you ever began to look for God or look at God. God has things for you, you would never imagine in…

Employing and enjoying the therapy of Thanksgiving

Hello CCA Researching and studying Thanksgiving has been rich for me. I am hearing some rumblings it has been rewarding for you. Keep at it. Put Praise into your morning routine. Everything will call you away from Praise!! Everything… the news, out of coffee filters (that really happened ), thinking about the day’s demands, sick child, latest add on your phone, etc. The Enemy does not want you to Praise. Put that chair out the night before. Start with Praise!…

Tomorrow

Hello Church, Are you making plans to research some new things about Christmas this coming month? I hope so. Look into the background of why we celebrate this event. Thanksgiving may be uniquely an American holiday, but Christmas is universal. After praise service tomorrow we are going to decorate the church for the Christmas season. We should celebrate at full volume. Would you free some time to help and get started thinking about the season? We are providing lunch. Tomorrow…

Peace you couldn’t explain if you had to.

Hello CCA, Here’s just a sample of a time of praise and Thanksgiving prayer that might help be a model for you as you sit before God each day. It uses the 2 principles I have shared with you thus far about the Therapy of Thanksgiving. It includes a blessing from me to you: Praise for who God is. God I see that you are all mighty, all wonderful, all creative. You are eternal, you are the Lord of the…

excelling in Thanksgiving

Hello CHURCH, I hope you are finding it helpful and putting into practice what I have been preaching on the therapy of thanksgiving The first message was START WITH PRAISE. Praise is 2 sided: first, thanking God for WHO HE IS, secondly, thanking God for WHAT HE HAS DONE AND WHAT HE WILL DO. They are different but they combine nicely like the ingredients in a cake. Put Praise into your morning routine. The second message had 2 points: Thanksgiving puts God…

Thanksgiving Blessing

CCA, You make me proud! 373 boxes of stuffing were donated, which is above requested. Thanks for your generosity. 2 of CCA missionaries wrote to say they liked the idea of helping in this way. 1200 families were gifted Monday (just at the site we helped supply, at Crosspoint, near Burlington) in the city-wide Thanksgiving Blessing. Many CCA folks helped set up, take people around to get the food into their ‘cart’, and carried the items to their car. Thank…

Things to keep you in good spiritual shape

Hello Church, The Thanksgiving season is good training for all of us. Here are some tips: As I said Sunday, Start with Praise. Make praise part of your morning routine. Praise has 2 facets, 1) praising God for who he is. Google, how you can express praise for his character using the alphabet: “God, you are awesome, benevolent, caring, determined, engaging, faithful… This is truly a good exercise to appreciate the greatness of God. 2) Praising God for what he…

Mentoring Students

Hello CCA, A number of CCA members mentored students at Bowman Elementary last year. The school and students and the teachers were appreciative. They are asking us to do the same for this school year. Your options are quite varied: age of students, number of students, skills you would like to help with, amount of time you can give, time of day you can be present, and what you can do with the student/s. Tuesday from 5-6 is an orientation/training…

Thanksgiving Blessing

Hello Church ? Research with me this season! It has made me think. I will be sharing 3 ways that Thanks-Giving is therapeutic to you this month. “Google it”, run a search in your Bible program, look up cross references in your Bible and Bible Concordance. See how many similar terms to thanksgiving you can come up with. Discuss it with your family. Forbid, that Thanksgiving is just one day! CCA participates in the city-wide Thanksgiving Blessing each year. CCA is…
