Wednesday study on Work as Worship and Ministry

Hello Church,

We all wish we could make a difference for Christ. We can. And we can do so in our current work and job. Would you like some more ideas on that?

Here’s what I wrote last week:

“We all want to be effective for Christ and show our appreciation for the life He gives us. But so much of our time and our energy are sapped by our work. How can we find time to serve God when we have to work?

What if Christians took their faith and work ethic to work? God wants to turn an audience into an army. God has made you for so much more than a chair on Sunday.

Is work and our Christian faith separate? Explore ways to bring your faith foundation to your work.

Learn God’s understanding and joy of work. Maybe we can learn to see our work as an expression of our faith and the creative capabilities that God gives to His people.

The Gospel at work

Many Christians fall victim to one of the two main problems when it comes to work: either they are idle in their work, or they have made an idol of it. Both of these mind-sets are deadly misunderstandings of how God intends for us to think about our employment. In The Gospel at Work, Sebastian Traeger and Greg Gilbert unpack the powerful ways in which the gospel can transform how we do what we do, releasing us from the cultural pressures of both an all-consuming devotion and a punch-in, punch-out mentality–in order to find the freedom of a work ethic rooted in serving Christ.
