This shelter provides a warm place for families to stay for the night. Families who are homeless and needing a place to stay for the night are referred by the AWAIC shelter and other city agencies. The shelter is overseen by Dave Kuiper and different churches in Anchorage staff a different night. They are looking for a church to take on one Tuesday night a month. On Sunday, December 4, we will take a special offering during the worship service for the missionaries of the missions we support. We gift the missionaries a special monetary gift for Christmas that goes directly to them.

For Thanksgiving we are going to provide 10 laundry baskets for them to use for their food baskets. If you got a basket, please bring by next Sunday, Nov. 20 For Christmas we are going to provide wrapping paper, tape, ribbon, toothpaste and toothbrushes. There is a box in the foyer to collect items in.

Bowman Elementary is a few blocks away from the church, a few years ago one of the Kindergarten teachers came and asked us to partner with the school and come in to mentor kids. We did it for 2-3 years then covid… so we are looking to partner with them again, as adult mentors. New Adult Sunday School class on Genesis starting soon. The entire Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, is the record of human history that runs parallel with God’s redemptive history for mankind whom He loves. Genesis lays the foundation for our understanding of the truths revealed in this recorded history. Establishing ourselves firmly on these foundational truths strengthens our faith and our effectiveness in pointing the world to Jesus.

Robert Rees with Pioneer Bible Translators will be preaching. Robert is another missionary that CCA supports monthly. Robert is working to translate different books of the Bible into a few different languages in India.

We are looking at partnering with Bowman Elementary again to provide adult mentors to students at Bowman. You could help with school work, help in the library, play at recess, there are a number of ways to help. If you are interested in working with students at Bowman let Mandy or Deryl know. There is a process to go through with an application and back ground check.

Would you like to help in the church office during the week for an hour or so here and there? This would help when Mandy is out of the office. Mandy will be on vacation December 19-30, during that time we could use someone to print the bulletin, check phone messages and more if you had availability. See Mandy if you are interested.

Secret Sisters is a way to help ladies get to know each other a little better and to also encourage and pray for our sisters in Christ to develop a lasting relationship. Fill out the questionnaire about yourself, they are on the back table in the foyer. Then turn in your questionnaire next Sunday, Oct 2nd to Mandy or leave them in the box at the Back Table.
